ColdClear mentioned in BioDiesel Magazine
October 2009
......."R3 energy uses Schroeder Biofuels', ColdClear filtration technology to remove sterol glucosides and other impurities that can drop out of fuel suspension in cold weather. ColdClear works by removing certain contaminants "that create higher than normal likelihood of surface crystallization" on filters, which can cause break downs. The system is designed to be a single pass three-stage bank of filters and absorbers that sequentially remove those compounds likely to cause filter plugging. Click here to read the entire article.

Region sees beginning of widespread energy boom
July 2009 I Tribune-Review
On a smaller scale, a Leetsdale-based company last month launched a filtration system for biofuels blenders that's designed to prevent the common problem of surface crystallization, and meet new production standards.
"I've seen more places in the U.S. that have more biofuels companies, " said Jonathan Dugan of Schroeder Biofuels, founded two years ago as part of industrial filter maker Schroeder Industries, which dates to 1946. "There's a big undercurrent of it beginning to emerge."

Schroeder launches ColdClear Filtration System
June 2009 I BioDiesel Magazine
Every biodiesel producer and distributor must pass the ASTM cold soak filtration test after Oct. 1, 2009. Because many biodiesel fuel samples have failed cold soak filtration since its introduction into the fuel quality parameters, Schroeder Industries of Leetsdale, Penn., began to research the problems and develop a solution....more

Schroeder BioFuels Announces New Pricing and New Applications for Eco2Pure Media
Leetsdale, PA – Schroeder Biofuels, a recognized leader in filtration and fluid conditioning products, is pleased to announce new biodiesel applications and new pricing for Eco2Pure, a second generation biodiesel dry washmedia, which provides the
lowest cost per gallon, highest performing purification method on the market.
In addition to being a stand alone purification solution, the media can also work in tandem with current Ion Exchange Systems at production facilities where high soap levels are causing the FFA level to increase in the final product. “Surprisingly, this seems to be a more common issue in the biodiesel world than we initially realized,” commented Jonathan Dugan, Product Manager for Schroeder Biofuels, “though we are confident in the eco2pure media as a stand alone product, we are happy to see that the product can assist other technologies in performing better”. In this application, eco2pure is used as a “pretreatment” step to drop the level of soap in the fuel before passing it through the ion exchange media. “Some of our end users are finding a four-fold increase in their resin life,” said Dugan, “which dramatically lowers the overall cost of production, so everyone wins”.
Schroeder is also announcing that it is offering new pricing for the eco2pure media. “With the excitement over the product at the National Biodiesel Show and the new applications with ion exchange, we changed our strategy internally to get some significant cost savings, which we are passing on to the end user” said Michael Lamers, Schroeder Industries’ National Sales Manager. “Our target end user price was to be less than $7 per kilogram for the smallest user, and we are happy to say that we exceeded our expectations.” Effective February 17
th, the single bag price for the media will be $96.01 for 15 kilograms, which amount to less than $6.50 per kilogram.
Click here to access the Eco2pure price list.
The media still can be purchased in single 15Kg bags, pallets, or 20 and 40 ft shipping containers, which gives the BioFuels producers many convenient purchasing options, depending on purification needs. Lab tests and customer results show that each kilogram of Eco2Pure is effective at purifying 131-184 gallons of crude biodiesel and assists in the attainment of ASTM and EN quality.
Eco
2Pure media can be purchased from any of Schroeder Biofuels’ highly qualified distributors. To find a local or preferred distributor of Eco
2Pure media, please visit
